What is Vishu Sadya & Kaineettam?

An event for friends and families alike, Symbolizing equipoise and harmony, Vishu festival is considered as the astrological New Year day of Keralites. 

The festival Vishu (which is also spelled as Viṣu) is observed along as the spring festival by Malayali and other south Indian Communities, especially in Kerala and in adjacent areas of Tamil Nadu, India. Vishu with its meaning in Sanskrit says “equal” celebrates the day of vernal equinox, when the day and night are roughly equal length.

Kaineettam is a cherished tradition during Vishu, the Malayalam New Year festival, where elders offer monetary gifts to younger ones as a symbol of blessings and prosperity. This custom holds deep cultural significance, reflecting the spirit of generosity, goodwill, and familial bonds.
